Proofs from the second DIYcouture book, How to make a cloak

Printing the books

DIYcouture's books are printed at the Bristol based printers Apple Colour.

Apple Colour use paper that comes from traceable and sustainable sources from well-managed forests. Aside from paper, 90% of their raw materials come from a sustainable or renewable source and their electricity is even derived from a wind-driven turbine.

The books are printed using the offset method, where large metal plates are stamped with the design of each page then bent to form cylinders which are used as giant rotating stamps to transfer colour to paper.

Apple Colour send large proofs to DIYcouture which are throughly checked for final spelling mistakes before being sent back for printing.
