How to make a romper

The DIYcouture romper is an easy-to-make all-in-one with a shaped bodice and trousers - or shorts - that gather at the waist. A romper is a great summer alternative to a dress, allowing you to feel free to climb cliffs, roam through rockpools or step boldly forth on sandy beaches.

Our 'How to make a romper' instructions are available in our book, DIY Couture: Create Your Own Fashion Collection The book contains simple instructions that use illustrations, photographs and jargon-free language to show you how to make twelve clothing designs.

So many ways to make it...

There are so many ways to make the romper that the possibilities are almost endless.

It can be made with wide straps and chunky, cropped shorts. It can be strapless and with cheeky super short shorts. Pockets can be added for extra slouchy comfort. It can be decorated with a row of buttons at the front and fastened with pretty ribbons instead of straps.
